Frequently Asked Questions

  • Submissions open on March 5th and close on April 7th! Submit your tutorial here.

  • No! Tutorials can be created no matter the skill level. As long as you follow our other entry requirements, you’re good to go.

  • That doesn’t matter; you can still submit. Our ‘Novel’ criteria also includes new ways to approach or explain existing techniques, so even if you’re doing something common, like how to do a rolled hem or how to make a spike in a wig, we know you’ll put your own spin on the explanation. So, if you have something to add to the technique, it’s allowed and even encouraged!

  • You can see details on how tutorials are judges over on our Rules page, but the TL;DR is Clarity (“Is it clear?”), Deeper Understanding (“Why am I doing this?”), and Novelty (“Wow, that’s new!”).

Our judges can be viewed at our judges/staff page, but are Malindachan, Downen Creative Studios, Colleen Cosplay, Hoku Props, and Panterona.

  • You can view our prizes & categories at our prizing page, as well as on our Instagram!

  • You can view that at our staff page, but Lutavia Cosplay and Knovice Cosplay primarily co-run the competition. We are entirely volunteer-ran — every prize goes straight to judge compensation or to the contest. All sponsor prizing are donations, and our judges are compensated, but we (the staff) are not. View our full staff here!

  • Yes! Here are the entries and winners of previous years’ contests:

  • Entries from the current year are not included until the contest is complete for the year. Once the contest is complete, you’ll be able to see all entries on this site.

  • We’re not currently looking for further staffing— however, we’d love if you could share the contest with your friends and followers! Every year we can get better and better prizes by having more entries and more eyes on our socials. If you love what we do, share away — and feel free to let us know in comments too!
